Multi-vehicle crash causes traffic jam on Highway 101 near SLO

A multi-vehicle crash south of San Luis Obispo caused traffic to pile up on Highway 101 on Thursday afternoon.

Three vehicles collided in the southbound lane of the highway near the Avila Beach Drive on-ramp at about 3:48 p.m., the California Highway Patrol traffic log said.

The crash left a Toyota Prius facing the wrong way on the on-ramp, the CHP said.

An ambulance was on its way to the scene as of 4:31 p.m., but the CHP hadn’t confirmed if anyone was injured.

Traffic slowed to a crawl around the San Luis Bay Drive on-ramp, the Caltrans traffic camera showed, backing up beyond Los Osos Valley Road.
