San Luis Obispo County has several parks and beaches that allow dogs to roam free while enjoying nature.

Are there off-leash dog parks in SLO County?
SLO County has 10 dog parks where dogs can run around leash-free with other pups within fenced enclosures according to San Luis Obispo County Parks and the Central Coast Dog Park Alliance.
Laguna Lake Dog Park in San Luis Obispo recently underwent a $1.3 million renovation, adding fencing, new play structures and additional seating areas and drinking fountains with dog bowls.

Are there leash-free dog beaches in SLO County?
Although leashed dogs are allowed on many SLO County beaches, only two offer off-leash options for pets.
Toro Creek Dog Beach, at the intersection of Toro Creek Road and Highway 1 in Morro Bay, is a mile-long playground where dogs can “splash in and out of the surf,” Visit Morro Bay said.
“This white sandy beach fills the gap between the north and south sections of Morro Strand State Beach in north Morro Bay,” the Morro Bay tourism resource said.
According to the Port San Luis Harbor District, dogs can to go leash free at Olde Port Beach along Avila Beach Drive.
Avila Beach allows dogs to roam freely during certain hours, the harbor district said.
“Dogs are allowed off-leash and under voice command control on Avila Beach before 10 a.m. and after 5 p.m. daily.,” the harbor district said, noting that only service dogs are allowed outside of those hours.
No dogs are allowed on nearby Fisherman’s Beach.
