A vegetation fire broke out in a “challenging” area of San Luis Obispo County on Saturday morning.

According to the San Luis Obispo County Fire Department on X, units responded to a reported vegetation fire near High Meadow Way and Running Deer Road in Paso Robles around 9 a.m.

The fire was approximately 5 acres burning in “heavy brush,” the agency said.

“Steep terrain and thick fuels are challenging firefighters as crews work to cut link and gain access,” the post said.

People were asked to avoid the area and watch for emergency personnel and equipment.
