Truck engulfed in flames blocks traffic on Hwy. 41 in SLO County

Both lanes of Highway 41 were reopened as of 1 p.m.

Original Story:

A vehicle fire blocked traffic in both directions on Highway 41 in San Luis Obispo County Wednesday morning.

The California Highway Patrol received a call around 10:34 a.m. from a woman who said her pickup truck was on fire near Road Runner Lane in the Atascadero area, according to the CHP’s Traffic Incident Information Page.

The truck, a white Dodge Ram, was “fully engulfed” in flames on the roadside, according to the CHP page.

Cal Fire engines were dispatched to the scene of the fire shortly after receiving the report, according to the CHP.

By 10:45 a.m., Highway 41 was closed in both directions at the scene of the fire, the CHP said.
