ICE protests planned around San Luis Obispo County this weekend
A weekend of protests against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement is underway in San Luis Obispo County after an ICE agent shot and killed a woman in Minneapolis earlier this week.
Hosted by the Indivisible SLO Coalition, demonstrations against the federal immigration agency are planned for Saturday and Sunday at cities in and around SLO County.
Renee Good, a 37-year-old mother, was shot and killed by an ICE agent during an altercation in Minneapolis on Wednesday.
The “ICE Out For Good” Weekend of Action in SLO County with feature rallies, protests and vigils in Los Osos, Atascadero and San Luis Obispo. The events are aimed to honor the lives taken by ICE, including Good, and a call for ICE to leave communities, according to a news release from Indivisible SLO Coalition obtained by The Tribune.
Here are a list of events and when and where they will be throughout the weekend in SLO County:
- Los Osos Valley Road and South Bay Boulevard, Los Osos, Saturday, Jan. 10, at 12 p.m.
- California 1 and Kansas Avenue, San Luis Obispo, Sunday, Jan. 11, at 10 a.m.
- Atascadero Lake, 9305 Pismo Ave., Atascadero, Sunday, Jan. 11, at 4:30 p.m.
