SLO airport is losing flights to 2 destinations in 2026. Here’s what to know

Flight options for local travelers are changing in 2026.

San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport is stopping or reducing direct flights to two desert destinations this spring, airport representatives told The Tribune.

By May, the airport will provide direct flights to eight destinations across the United States, with nonstop trips to Dallas, Denver and more.

When do direct flights from SLO to Las Vegas end?

Alaska Airlines brought back direct flights from San Luis Obispo to Las Vegas in early October.

The airline will end daily nonstop service from SLO to Harry Reid International Airport on Monday, April 20, according to Joe Goble, a public information specialist for the San Luis Obispo County Department of airports.

As of Wednesday, Jan. 7, the airport had not determined “whether or when seasonal Las Vegas service may return later in 2026,” Goble said in an email.

Courtney Pene, SLO County deputy director of airports, told the Tribune in May that “the airport would love to see Alaska Airlines make this nonstop route permanent and year-round.”

A one-way ticket from SLO to Las Vegas starts at $79.

Can I still fly nonstop to Phoenix?

American Airlines plans to reduce its daily direct service to Phoenix this spring.

Currently, travelers can catch four nonstop flights from San Luis Obispo to the Arizona city each day.

Starting on Saturday, May 3, the SLO airport will only have three daily direct flights to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Goble said.

He did not specify which flight will be cut, but Google Flights indicated that the 9:45 a.m. American Airlines flight from SLO to Phoenix will no longer be available.

One-way flight prices from San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport start at $376, according to the American Airlines website.

Will SLO airport get flights to new destinations in 2026?

The SLO airport did not have any new direct flights coming in 2026, as of Thursday, Jan. 8.

“As for new nonstop destinations, we’re always in active discussions with our airline partners, but there’s nothing additional to announce at this time,” Goble told The Tribune.
