  • Sea + Green will close its Cambria shop Jan. 25 and reopen in SLO in early Feb.
  • Owner Rebecca Biskaduros will downsize inventory and run clearance sales before move.
  • 900‑sq‑ft Mission Mall location will carry vintage, antique, natural and handmade goods.

A store specializing in vintage, natural and handmade goods is packing up to leave Cambria soon and move to San Luis Obispo’s recently renovated Mission Mall.

Closing day at Sea + Green will be Jan. 25. Owner Becky Biskaduros says she’s holding a sale to downsize her stock, so it will fit in her new, smaller space at 746 Higuera St.

She’s discounting prices on a variety of goods, especially the large items that will be hard to place in the SLO location.

“We’re aiming to have a soft opening there by Feb. 7,” Biskaduros said.

She’ll continue to carry Lilija attire, she said, but some of the other lines Biskadouros sold and artists she’s represented at Sea + Green won’t be in the 900-square-foot San Luis Obispo store.

Other goods Biskaduros offered in Cambria include antique and vintage furniture, hand-made products, repurposed items, crystals, jewelry, plants, textiles and bath/body products.

Sea + Green’s background is diverse

After years in Southern California, Biskadouros and husband Jason Turton launched Sea + Green in New Jersey. Yearning for California, they moved the shop and their family of four to Cambria in January 2020.

They’d signed their lease and began remodeling right before the COVID-19 pandemic shut things down. Foot traffic dwindled.

Turton, a surfing artist who works in wood and other media, has shifted to construction work in Morro Bay to help support the couple and their two teen daughters.

Since they opened Sea + Green, the 2,000-square-foot-plus shop has been at 2380 Main St. near the start of Cambria’s downtown area.

While Biscaduros and Turton have enjoyed their time as Cambria business owners, she said, their venture there has been fraught from the outset.

In addition to the pandemic, the stretch of Highway 1 between Cambria and Big Sur has been closed by landslides for nearly the entire time Sea + Green has been located in the North Coast community.

The couple announced their looming closure Dec. 26 on social media.

“We have made the decision to close up our beloved space in Cambria in late January. It is bittersweet but a necessary decision for our small business,” they said.

Now, they say they’re looking forward to their new neighbors, such as the longtime Birkenstock’s store and the Kiko Peruvian Cuisine & Pisco Bar, right in the middle of downtown San Luis Obispo.

Until Sea + Green closes in Cambria, it’s business as usual there plus the sale

“We’ll be open seven days a week until the Cambria store closes,” Biskadouros said.

Until the closing, Sea + Green’s hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sundays through Thursdays, and until 5:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Call 805-935-9046, or check on their progress on Facebook and Instagram.
