A semi-truck driver who was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence in San Luis Obispo County also gave police a false identification during a traffic stop, concealing additional DUI charges and a lifetime license suspension, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officers initially pulled over the big rig driver on Highway 101 near Avila Beach for speeding, according to a Dec. 8 Facebook post from the CHP.

The agency said the man “displayed signs of intoxication” during the stop and was subsequently arrested on suspicion of DUI.

A subsequent social media post Saturday said the driver also gave police a false ID during the stop, which was later discovered during the booking process.

Under his real identity, the man had two prior DUI charges in a commercial vehicle and had received a lifetime suspension of his commercial driver’s license, the CHP wrote.
