Allan Hancock College evacuated due to bomb threat
Update, 6:45 p.m.:
An all-clear has been issued for Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria following a bomb threat evacuation earlier Monday.
According to a news release Monday evening, the community college received a bomb threat via phone call at approximately 2:21 p.m. “Out of an abundance of caution,” the campus was evacuated and all classes and services canceled for the remainder of the day.
Santa Maria Police Department and Allan Hancock College Police Department officers conducted a sweep of the campus and facilities and found no evidence of any explosive device, according to the release.
The Santa Maria Police Department is expected to continue to investigate the source of the threat.
“Allan Hancock College is deeply grateful to our students, employees, and community for their cooperation throughout today’s incident,” Superintendent Kevin G. Walthers said in the release. “The safety of our campus community is always our highest priority. We appreciate the swift and professional response of local law enforcement.” All Hancock classes and services were expected to resume Tuesday morning.

The Santa Maria campus of Allan Hancock College was evacuated Monday after it received a bomb threat, the school said in an email.
Around 2:21 p.m., the campus received a bomb threat over the phone, the email said.
“Out of an abundance of caution, the decision was made to evacuate campus,” the email said, adding that all staff and students were asked to leave in an orderly fashion.
All classes and services were also canceled for the rest of the day, the email said.
The school said the response to the incident is ongoing and will provide more information as needed.
