Highway 1 lanes to close in SLO County. When, where to expect delays

Drivers could face traffic delays on Highway 1 in San Luis Obispo County due to roadwork, according to Caltrans.

Traffic will be restricted to a single lane while crews work to replace fiber optic cable along a stretch of Highway 1, the California Department of Transportation said in a news release.

One-way reversing traffic control will last for at least two weeks of October, Caltrans said.

Here’s what to know:

Where are Highway 1 lane closures? When?

One-way reversing traffic control will start Monday, Oct. 13, at the section of Highway 1 near Paso Robles Street in Oceano, Caltrans said.

Work will be ongoing from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Caltrans predicted that the project would be finished by the end of the month.

HP Communications of Phelan is the contractor for the fiber optic cable project, Caltrans said.

Will roadwork slow traffic?

Drivers should expect delays up to 10 minutes, Caltrans said.

Businesses in the area will stay open while the project is underway, the state road agency said the release.

“Drive slowly and carefully in all work zones,” Caltrans said.
