SLO airport brings back flights to Las Vegas. Here’s when & how much tickets cost

Daily direct flights to Las Vegas are returning to the San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport.

Alaska Airlines will soon start operating nonstop service to the popular desert destination, the airport said in a Friday, Oct. 3, news release.

“Las Vegas has always been a top destination for our region, drawing both leisure travelers and business opportunities,” San Luis Obispo County Supervisor Dawn Ortiz-Legg said in the release. “The return of this nonstop service not only enhances convenience for our residents but also strengthens the regional economy by welcoming more visitors to the Central Coast.”

With the addition of the Las Vegas flights, the SLO airport will offer nonstop flights to nine destinations across the United States, including direct service to Dallas, Phoenix, Seattle and Portland, Oregon.

Here’s what to know the returning flights to Sin City.

Why is SLO airport offering daily flights to Las Vegas?

It’s been a few months since the San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport offered seasonal nonstop flights to Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas.

Direct service to the popular desert destination was previously in place from Oct. 27, 2024, through April 21.

During that time, Sin City was a popular option tor San Luis Obispo County residents traveling for business, entertainment and leisure, the SLO airport said.

“The return of this Las Vegas route underscores Alaska Airlines’ continued confidence in the SLO County market and our strong partnership,” San Luis Obispo County Director of Airports Courtney Johnson said in the release. “We are proud to offer more options for our travelers and grateful for the community support that makes this service possible.”

Alaska Airlines said the SLO airport is an integral arm of its West Coast network.

“We aim to connect our guests to the destinations that matter most to them, and we’re excited to offer a convenient route to a city known for its world-class entertainment and vibrant atmosphere,” Neil Thwaites, regional vice president of California at Alaska Airlines, said in a May news release.

When will Alaska Airlines start nonstop flights to Las Vegas?

Daily direct flights to and from Las Vegas return on a temporary basis starting Saturday, Oct. 4, the release said.

Nonstop flights from Las Vegas to San Luis Obispo begin with a 12:04 p.m. flight on Saturday, Oct. 4.

However, direct service from the SLO airport to the Harry Reid International Airport launches on Sunday, Oct. 5, with a 2:14 p.m. flight, according to Alaska Airlines’ website.

It’s not clear when seasonal service to and from Las Vegas will end.

“Unfortunately, we do not have that answer, something we continually ask Alaska Airlines about but they have yet to provide that answer,” said Courtney Pene, San Luis Obispo County deputy director of airports. “The route is extremely successful, so we are hoping that entices them to maintain service.”

In past years, seasonal service has always ended in mid-April, Pene said.

How much does it cost to fly direct to Las Vegas?

One-way flights from San Luis Obispo to Las Vegas start at $89, according to Alaska Airlines’ website.
