Giuseppe’s employee fired for ‘inappropriate’ Facebook posts about Charlie Kirk
An employee of Giuseppe’s Cucina Rustica in San Luis Obispo County was fired after making “inappropriate” posts on social media about the killing of Charlie Kirk, the right-wing activist who was fatally shot at a college campus event in Utah earlier this week.
The employee made the posts on his personal Facebook, according to Giuseppe’s supervisor named Jeff, who declined to provide his last name.
“These posts were made by the individual acting in their personal capacity and in no way reflect the values, opinions or position of Guiseppe’s Restaurants,” the restaurant said in a statement posted on Instagram on Friday. “We want to make it absolutely clear that we do not condone or support any communications that are disrespectful, inflammatory or that glorify violence.”
Giuseppe’s has restaurants in both San Luis Obispo and Pismo Beach.
The employee was fired as soon as Giuseppe’s became aware of the posts, the restaurant said on Instagram.
The restaurant did not name the employee or share the specific content of the posts.
By 3:25 p.m., the Instagram post had over 340 likes — hundreds more than the restaurant’s average post — and comments on the post had been turned off.
“We are committed to maintaining a workplace culture that upholds the highest standards of professional conduct, both within our organization and in how we represent ourselves to the broader community,” the restaurant said.
