A popular burger joint known for its tri-tip, hamburgers and signature Boss Sauce has closed its San Luis Obispo location.

Brooks Burgers at 134 Tank Farm Road recently shut its doors after three years of business in the SLO Public Market.

The burger chain announced the closure on its Facebook on Sept. 1, citing no reason for why it was closing its glass doors.

“After three wonderful years, we are closing our San Luis Obispo Brooks Burgers location,” the Facebook post read. “We are so grateful to all of our amazing guests who supported us along the way.”

At its physical location in SLO, a black poster on the door stated that the business will honor all gift cards at its original location in Pismo Beach at 220 Five Cities Drive.

Brooks Burgers opened its doors in SLO in August 2022, as the burger chain’s third location, including the original in Pismo Beach and Fresno. Brooks Burgers’ Fresno location closed in early 2024.

The original Brooks Burgers in Pismo Beach is still “going strong,” according to the Facebook post.

The SLO spot may not be vacant for long.

Next to its closing sign, a larger poster in the doors of Brooks Burgers announced “something is cooking for this winter” in the SLO Public Market. The sign did not specify exactly what was coming in, however.

SLO Public Market representatives had not responded to The Tribune’s request for comment on a potential new business as of Wednesday evening.
