A vegetation fire ignited near an elementary school in Templeton on Thursday afternoon.

The fire sparked in a field across from Vineyard Elementary School at about 1:58 p.m., according to discussion on the police scanner.

The blaze burned about two to three acres of brush, and firefighters stopped the fire’s forward progress by about 3:45 p.m., Cal Fire said in a post on X.

The elementary school temporarily sheltered in place while firefighters battled the blaze, according to a clerk at the school.

Meanwhile, Vineyard Drive was temporarily closed as of 3:37 p.m., but school traffic was allowed to enter and leave, the California Highway Patrol traffic log said.

No structures were threatend by the fire, according to radio traffic.
