A barn in Creston was fully destroyed on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2025.

A fire fully destroyed a Creston barn Saturday evening, leaving one person with minor injuries and some surrounding vegetation burned.

At 3:16 p.m., the San Luis Obispo County Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire happening on the 3000 block of Ryan Road in Creston, across from Buckwheat Way, according to a Cal Fire spokesperson.

Firefighters quickly put out about a quarter-acre of burned vegetation surrounding the structure, but the barn was lost in the process, the spokesperson said. The fire took about four hours to extinguish.

Horses were able to move away safely during the barn fire, but one unidentified person helping out sustained minor injuries as a result, Cal Fire said.

The cause of the fire was still under investigation.
