SLO County offers discounted dog, cat adoptions to make room for Gifford Fire pets
Looking for your new best friend? Now is the time as San Luis Obispo County Animal Services is offering discounted adoption fees through Monday.
The agency said on social media that it hoping to clear the shelter to make space for incoming pets affected by the Gifford Fire, which has burned more than 125,000 acres in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties as of Tuesday afternoon.
“We have so many great pets that have been waiting far too long for their homes,” it said in one of its posts.
Both dogs and cats will have reduced adoption rates of $25, but dogs will also require a $28-$67 license fee, according to the agency’s website.
Available animals include a 6-year-old female pitbull terrier named Mora and a 13-week old kitten named Rose.
Those looking to adopt can call 805-781-4400, visit their website at sloanimalservices.com or visit the shelter at 865 Oklahoma Ave. in San Luis Obispo.
Adoptable animals can be viewed at 24petconnect.com/SLOCAdopt.
