Highway 101 roadwork to stop traffic in SLO County. See when and where

San Luis Obispo County drivers will hit stop-and-go traffic on Highway 101 due to upcoming roadwork.

The intermittent rolling stops will affect vehicles traveling in both directions of the freeway, according to the California Department of Transportation.

Travelers should expect some delays, Caltrans said.

Where is Highway 101 roadwork?

The roadwork will occur two miles north of the Santa Maria River Bridge on Highway 101 near the San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara county line.

Pacific Gas and Electric Co. will be completing work on utility poles in the vicinity, Caltrans said.

When can drivers expect traffic stops?

The California Highway Patrol will facilitate rolling traffic stops in both directions of Highway 101, according to Caltrans.

The stops will occur from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10.

Will motorists face delays on freeway?

Caltrans said the intermittent full traffic stops will cause vehicles to experience slowdowns while work is underway.

“These full temporary stops in traffic which should not exceed five minutes,” Caltrans said in the release.
