Barn burns in late-night fire in rural SLO County

At 11:16 p.m. on Saturday, Cal Fire received a call about a residential structure fire south of Highway 58.

One battalion chief, six fire engines, four prevention officers and a water tender were assigned to the scene at 9925 Huer Huero Road in Creston, according to emergency response app PulsePoint.

One structure was fully involved, and flames and smoke were visible on live feeds from ALERTCalifornia. By 11:37 p.m., the fire spread to vegetation around the structure of approximately half an acre.

After fire engines were on scene, the vegetation fire was put out at 11:47 p.m. but the main barn on the road was well involved, according to PulsePoint.

By 11:54 p.m., emergency response units were expected to remain on scene for two hours to fully extinguish and mop up the structure fire.
