A power outage swept across Atascadero on Wednesday afternoon, leaving almost 3,000 PG&E customers without electricity.

At 2:02 p.m., 2,935 PG&E customers lost power in Atascadero, according to the PG&E outage map.

The outage was located on both sides of Highway 101, from Highway 41 to the edge of Templeton.

“Our team is evaluating the electrical system to identify damaged sections and make necessary repairs in order to safely turn the power back on,” PG&E said on its website.

Most customers had their power restored by 4:30 p.m., PG&E said, with 535 still remaining without electricity at that time.
