The state of California is hiring employees across the county for full-time positions ranging from nursing, plumbing and engineering.

State jobs are known for offering competitive benefits and enrollment in the state’s public pension plan.

Chief engineer II | Permanent, full time

  • Department: Military
  • Salary: $6,783 to $8,665 per month

The chief engineer supervises staff in the daily operations and maintenance of state use buildings.

Duties include supervising the repair of heating, ventilating, refrigeration and air-conditioning systems, as well as maintaining auxiliary electrical plants and mechanical and power equipment.

The position is open until filled.

Food administrator I | Permanent, full time

  • Department: Correctional Health Care Services
  • Salary: $7,326 to $9,173 per month

The food administrator plans and organizes all food service and dietary activities in the health services department.

The employee is responsible for guiding clinical dietetic staff on how to provide nutritional care, as well as supervising and conducting staff training programs.

The food administrator helps maintain order and safety for staff and inmates at the property.

Licensed vocational nurse | Permanent, full time

  • Department: Correctional Health Care Services
  • Salary: $5,741 to $6,487 per month

The licensed vocational nurse provides general nursing care to patients in a correctional health care setting.

Other duties include addressing patient needs, working with physicians and other health care providers, and providing “efficient, appropriate and cost-effective use of health care resources.”

Duties include leading crews on assigned projects and collaborating with other district programs.

The employee directs specialized psychological assessments and treatment programs and helps hire new employees.

The senior psychologist also reviews research projects and inmate appeals, and consults with custodial staff about clinical issues.

Supervising transportation engineer | Permanent, full time

  • Salary: $13,487 to $15,322 per month

The supervising transportation engineer coordinates and facilities the planning, prioritization and development of state transportation projects.

The supervising transportation engineer works closely with district and regional executives on highway system management plans.

Other duties include managing project documents and representing the district in meetings with local agency directors, public works directors and elected officials at city and county levels.
