Highway 101 ramp closures to slow traffic in SLO County. Here’s when and where
Heads up, San Luis Obispo County drivers.
A number of Highway 101 off-ramps in Pismo Beach will be temporarily closed to traffic due to a classic car show, according to the California Department of Transportation.
Here’s what to know about the closure:
When and where are Highway 101 off-ramp closures?
A total of three southbound off-ramps in Pismo Beach will close from 7 am. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, Caltrans said in a news release.
Here are the three freeway exits that will be temporarily shut down:
- Exit 191B onto Price Street
- Exit 191A onto Highway 1
- Exit 190B onto Hinds Street
Why are SLO County freeway exits closing?
Caltrans said the freeway exits will be shut down to support the 39th annual Pismo Beach Classic Car Show.
Thousands of people are expected to attend the free, three-day event in downtown Pismo Beach, which features a car cruise, beer gardens, live music and a vendor village.
Electronic message boards will be in place to alert travelers to the traffic changes, according to the state road agency.
“Travelers are advised to use an alternate route during this event,” Caltrans said.
When will freeway exits reopen?
Highway 101 off-ramps in Pismo Beach will reopen to motorists at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, according to Caltrans.
