88-year-old SLO County bridge to close for construction through fall
The road leading to an 88-year-old San Luis Obispo County bridge will close this summer and fall while crews work to replace the structure, the SLO County Public Works Department said in a news release.
The bride set for replacement spans the Jack Creek, near Jack Creek Farms north of Highway 46 in rural Templeton, approximately six miles west of Paso Robles, the Public Works Department said in the release.
The $8 million project to replace the existing timber bridge built in 1937 is funded by Federal Highway Bridge Program grants.
“The project will improve safety and reliability for both residents and visitors,” the release said.
When will the creek over the Paso Robles Creek be closed?
Jack Creek Road will be closed at the bridge during construction starting on Thursday, April 24, and running through Nov. 30.
Homes and businesses on either side of the bridge will remain accessible by alternate routes via Vineyard Drive, Public Works said.
Motorists are advised to use alternate routes and follow posted detour signs, which will direct traffic to Jack Creek Road via Vineyard Drive.
