April is National Poetry Month, and this year, The Tribune wanted to once again feature the works of local poets.

Throughout the month, dozens of current and former San Luis Obispo County residents sent in their work to be reviewed by San Luis Obispo County Poet Laureate Caleb Nichols. In total, they reviewed well over 50 submissions and culled the selections to the top ones below.

The Tribune would like to thank all who took part in our National Poetry Month feature and we encourage all to participate again next year.

Click through below to view all of the poems. The pieces also appeared in the April 30, 2025, print edition of The Tribune.
