A motorcyclist was sent to the hospital after driving off a small cliff and crashing onto a beach on Wednesday, Cal Fire reported.

The motorcycle was driving down Avila Beach Drive and crashed at about 3:08 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol traffic log.

The motorcyclist sustained moderate injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment, according to Cal Fire spokesperson Toni Davis.

No other drivers were involved in the crash.

The cause of the crash was under investigation.

Cal Fire units were still on the scene at about 3:45 p.m., so Davis urged people to drive with caution in the area.

Traffic in the area did not seem to be impacted by the crash as of 3:53 p.m., according to Caltrans traffic cameras.
