Residents flee fire at Pismo Beach housing complex
A fire displaced at least seven people living in a Pismo Beach housing complex on Wednesday afternoon.
The fire started at about 4:50 p.m. at 320 Ocean View Ave., Cal Fire battalion chief Paul Lee told The Tribune. The property is a collection of small, detached bungalows.
The fire began in the kitchen and spread to the attic, he said. No one was injured in the blaze.
Firefighters evacuated all occupants from the building and knocked down the fire within 15 to 20 minutes, Lee said.
The blaze burned 60% of one of the bungalows, causing about $40,000 in damage and displacing the people who lived there, Cal Fire spokesperson Toni Davis said.
The other bungalows weren’t burned, but they lost power during the blaze and those residents can’t yet return to their homes, she said.
Firefighters were expected to remain on the scene for about three hours for clean up, Lee said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
