Update, 2:50 p.m.:

By 2:45 p.m., power was restored to most customers affected by the outage, according to the Outage Center.

Just over 200 PG&E customers were without power as of around 2:45 p.m., with power still expected to be fully restored by 8:45 p.m., according to the Outage Center

Original Story:

A felled telephone and power line in San Luis Obispo County caused several thousand PG&E customers to lose power Wednesday morning.

At around 9:57 a.m., a car crashed into a pole on Orcutt Road between La Lomita Ranch and Avocado Lane, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Traffic Incident Information Page.

Shortly after the crash, PG&E received reports of an outage in the south San Luis Obispo area near the San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport, affecting a total of 5,347 customers in the area, according to the PG&E Outage Center.

The outage affected much of Highway 227, going as far east as Pismo Beach and as far west as Lopez Lake.

By around 1 p.m. 1,088 customers were affected after repair teams partially resolved the issue.

The San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport posted to its Instagram page that it experienced a blackout, but generators at the airport were keeping systems running and no flight disruptions were expected.

The outage affecting the remaining 1,088 customers is expected to be repaired by 8:45 p.m., according to the Outage Center.
