105-acre vegetation fire contained after threatening 2 structures in rural SLO County

A vegetation fire was threatening two structures in California Valley after it broke out on Wednesday afternoon.

The fire was reported just after 1 p.m. at 13640 Soda Lake Road near the intersection with De Sabla Road, according to the emergency app PulsePoint.

Heavy plumes of black smoke could be seen emerging from the fire, which appeared to be heading straight toward a trailer, an image from ALERTCalifornia showed.

By 2:13 p.m., the fire had grown to approximately 30 acres with a potential for 200 and was immediately threatening an additional structure, according to emergency app Watch Duty.

The fire was fully contained at 6:30 p.m. after growing to final size of 105 acres, according to the app.

California Valley is just north of the Carrizo Plain National Monument.
