Person rescued from ‘fully involved’ trailer fire in SLO County
Firefighters rescued a resident from a travel trailer fire in Grover Beach on Friday evening.
The fire was reported at 5:48 p.m. at 1168 West Grand Ave., according to emergency response app PulsePoint.
When emergency responders arrived at the scene, the trailer fire was “fully involved,” and a resident was trapped inside, according to emergency scanner traffic at about 5:54 p.m.
Structures on both sides of the trailer were at risk of catching fire.
Five Cities Fire Authority battalion chief Brian Salce said the agency was dispatched to a trailer on fire with one occupant possible trapped.
“When we arrived on scene, we had just that,” he said. “We had a fully involved trailer with exposures. The engine out of the Grover Beach station went to work.”
Salce said the Grover Beach Police Department was first at the scene and helped to assist the trapped occupant out of the trailer.
He added that the other two nearby trailers were starting to “steam off and smoke” so the agency’s priority then became making sure those did not catch fire.
Salce said the occupant of the trailer was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.
They “should be OK,” he said.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze by 6 p.m.
Besides Five Cities Fire Authority and the Police Department, Cal Fire and San Luis Ambulance also responded to the scene.
Salce said the cause of the fire was under investigation.
