Crews responded to a vegetation fire in eastern rural San Luis Obispo County on Tuesday morning, according to the emergency response app PulsePoint.

Cal Fire received a report at approximately 10:54 a.m. of a fire burning on La Panza Ranch south of Highway 58 at the intersection of San Juan Creek Road and Hay Canyon Road, according to PulsePoint. The area is north of Carrizo Plain National Monument.

As of 1:43 p.m., firefighters had a line surrounding about half of the fire, according to the emergency response app Watch Duty. Forward progress had stopped at 8.3 acres, as mapped by a helicopter, the app said.

Cleanup crews and one helicopter were expected to remain on the scene for two hours, according to Watch Duty.

The fire initially had a potential to grow to 20 to 30 acres, according to emergency radio chatter.

No structures were threaten.
