Moving truck, big rig crash slows Highway 101 traffic on Cuesta Grade
A moving truck that collided with a big rig on Highway 101 on the Cuesta Grade snarled traffic north of San Luis Obispo on Tuesday morning.
According to a post on X from the CHP, a Penske rental truck collided with a big rig pulling a pair of trailers heading northbound south of TV Tower Road, blocking the No. 2 and No. 3 lanes. The incident was reported at 10:39 a.m.
The crash separated the body of the moving truck from the cab, spilling contents across the lanes, according to the CHP traffic incident report page.
The right two lanes would be closed for approximately two hours while the crash was cleared, according to the post on X.
A street sweeper with absorbent for leaking oil in the No. 3 lane was dispatched around 11 a.m., according to the CHP page.
Ambulances were also dispatched to the scene of the crash, though the extent of injuries was not known as of 11:45 a.m.
According to Caltrans’ Quickmap, traffic was backed up along the northbound lanes of the highway from TV Tower Road to just after Old Stage Coach road
