As of 1:33 p.m., forward progress on the fire was stopped, according to emergency response app Watch Duty.

The fire progressed about 5 acres before it was controlled, Templeton Fire Chief Tom Peterson told The Tribune.

A car fire erupted in an vacant grass lot in Templeton near El Camino Real on Tuesday afternoon, according to California Highway Patrol.

Reports of the fire came in at 12:38 p.m. on Tuesday, according to emergency response app PulsePoint.

The first arriving unit reported a 100-by-200 foot fire in the grass spreading at a moderate speed, according to emergency scanner chatter.

The fire then burned into the vegetation at 855 Vineyard Drive just west of Rossi Road, according to the scanner.

CHP and Templeton Fire and Emergency Services responded to the call.

Crews at scene predicted neighboring residential structures would be threatened by the fire, according to emergency scanner traffic.
