CHP: Driver got ticket speeding on Cuesta Grade. Minutes later, they crashed into a boulder

A driver was cited for speeding on Cuesta Grade shortly before they crashed into an embankment and boulder on Highway 101 in San Luis Obispo County, according to CHP.

Half an hour after receiving a ticket for going 85 mph on the Cuesta Grade, a driver crashed into a boulder further south on Highway 101 on Saturday, according to California Highway Patrol.

In a post on Instagram, CHP San Luis Obispo said a car crashed off an embankment and into a boulder in the area of Laetitia Winery near Nipomo.

CHP said the driver was transported to a nearby hospital for “complaint of pain”.

In the post, CHP reminded drivers to be mindful of their speed and to stay safe on the roads.
