16-year-old dog Bobo got stuck tumbling down SLO County cliff. See her heartwarming rescue
Cal Fire swiftly rescued an elderly dog after she tumbled down a San Luis Obispo cliff on Friday afternoon.
At about 12:30 p.m., Cal Fire was called to rescue Bobo: a stout, 16-year-old dog who fell about 35 feet down an embankment on Squire Canyon Road and got stuck, Cal Fire Captain Danny Woodman said.
Bobo is partially blind and deaf, according to owner David Yount.
When firefighters arrived on the scene of the incident, they walked down the hill to find Bobo, loaded her into a lift tarp and carried her back up to the property.
Though Bobo was tired after her misadventure, she was able to walk and didn’t suffer any visible injures, Cal Fire said. Firefighters recommended that she visit a veterinarian, Woodman said.
“It went really well, the dog’s doing good and we’re happy to help out the family and the animal,” he said.
Firefighters delivered Bobo to her owner’s car, where she quickly curled up in the front seat, content to rest after her ordeal.
“The fire department is so good here,” Yount told The Tribune afterward. “I’m so grateful.”
