Firefighters respond to hazmat spill in SLO neighborhood
The San Luis Obispo Fire Department responded to a hazmat spill on Beebee Street on Tuesday afternoon.
According to a 1 p.m. post on Instagram, a fire truck, battalion chief and hazmat coordinator were dispatched to Beebee Street to deal with a hazmat spill.
In the post, the Fire Department advised residents to avoid the area of the spill if possible.
San Luis Obispo Fire Department Chief Todd Tuggle told The Tribune the spill likely originated from a nearby business, but was not hazardous to human health.
The material spilled into the storm drains has yet to be identified, but a cleanup crew would be onsite to clean up the remaining material for the next few hours, Tuggle said.
