SLO County fire 75% contained after burning 300 acres off Highway 58
Firefighters worked to contain a wildfire that burned more than 300 acres of grassland Wednesday in the eastern area of San Luis Obispo County north of the Carrizo Plain National Monument.
The first was first reported around 11:46 a.m. in the area of Highway 58 and Bitterwater Road and by 12:11 p.m. had spread to around 20 acres, according to a post on X by Cal Fire.
Cal Fire dispatched multiple fire engines, tankers and an air attack unit to deal with the fire, which began moving at a moderate rate through grass and vegetation.
By 1 p.m., the fire had burned around 100 acres at 10% containment, growing more than 200 acres in the following hour.
As of around 2:30 p.m., the fire was 75% contained after burning around 331 acres of land, Cal Fire said in a post on X.
Cal Fire spokesperson Toni Davis said no structures were threatened by the blaze.
