Construction work along Highway 1 will close lanes and likely slow traffic through parts of San Luis Obispo this week.

According to a Caltrans District 5 news release, daily lane closures for asphalt paving were expected along the Highway 1 corridor starting Tuesday and lasting through Thursday.

On Tuesday, the agency planned to close the northbound No. 2 lane from Murray Avenue to Foothill Boulevard, followed by the southbound No. 2 lane along the same stretch on Wednesday.

Then on Thursday, Caltrans plans to close the southbound No. 1 lane from Hollister Road to the Camp San Luis Obispo entrance at Sonoma Avenue, according to the release.

All three lane closures were expected to last from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Travelers were encouraged to be aware of electronic message boards, flaggers and all highway workers within these workzones, Caltrans said.
