Firefighters respond to SLO County home fully engulfed in flames

Firefighters responded to a fire that badly damaged a home in Los Osos on Tuesday morning.

The fire began around 10:19 a.m., according to PulsePoint.

Cal Fire said in a social media post that home was located near the 600 block of Santa Lucia Avenue and Second Street and was “fully involved.”

Battalion Chief Paul Lee said the fire engulfed a 2,000- to 2,500- square-foot house. He said the fire was reported by people passing by the home Tuesday morning.

Lee said the damage to the home is “extensive” and the cause is under investigation. The property owner has been contacted.

Firefighters have not found any animals inside the home, Lee said, which was also believed to be unoccupied at the time.

No injuries were reported, and residents of all surrounding homes had been contacted.

“We are very thankful for that,” Lee said.

Cal Fire had at least eight units at the scene, according to PulsePoint. Lee said Morro Bay Fire Department, San Luis Obispo Fire Department and the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office were some of the agencies that assisted in the response.

The fire was contained by 11:03 a.m, Cal Fire said in a social media post.

Firefighters will be mopping up the scene until 2 or 3 p.m. Lee asked the public avoid the area, if possible.
