3 rescued after small plane flips at Paso Robles airport
A small plane flipped onto its roof at Paso Robles Municipal Airport on Friday, sending one person to the hospital.
At 11:24 a.m., Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services responded to a report of an aircraft off the runway, the city said in a news release.
When firefighters arrived, they found the plane 300 feet off the runway resting on its roof with three people inside who needed help getting out.
Firefighters noted that the plane was leaking fuel from both wings, which they controlled while extricating the occupants, the release said.
Two of the people were treated at the scene, while a third was transferred to the hospital in stable condition.
It’s unclear what caused the crash, and the investigation was turned over to the National Transportation Safety Board.
A total of 15 firefighters responded, with assistance from Cal Fire, the Paso Robles Police Department and San Luis Ambulance Service.
