Pedestrian seriously injured after being hit by car in SLO
A pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a car Thursday night on Madonna Road, according to the San Luis Obispo Police Department.
At around 7:10 p.m., police received multiple 911 calls about an adult male who’d been hit outside the crosswalk in the 200 block of Madonna Road near the southbound entrance to Highway 101, police said in a news release.
Officers were on scene within minutes, and the pedestrian was rushed to the hospital to be treated for their injuries, Sgt. Jeff Booth told The Tribune. The injuries were not life-threatening at this time, police said.
The department’s Severe Collision Investigation Detail then closed down the eastbound lane of Madonna Road between the road leading into the Madonna Plaza Shopping Center and the entrance to the highway, Booth said.
He said the investigation team is responsible for reconstructing accidents to determine their cause.
The driver remained on scene and fully cooperated with the investigation, police said in the release, adding that neither impairment nor distraction by the driver are believed to be a factor in the collision.
The Police Department asked anyone who witnessed the collision or has information regarding the incident to contact them at 805-781-7312 and reference case number 240222068.
