The San Luis Obispo Police Department found an apparently abandoned crashed car in the early hours of Thursday morning — and now it is investigating what happened.

According to a San Luis Obispo Police Department post on X, a patrol found a car crashed into a fence near Tank Farm Road and Santa Fe Road Thursday morning.

The driver was not in the vehicle or at the scene of the collision, leading police to suspect the driver was intoxicated, according to the post.

The Police Department was reaching out to the vehicle’s registered owner, according to the post.
