A man who crashed into a tree near San Luis Obispo High School early Wednesday morning could face DUI charges, police say.

A red SUV crashed head-on into a tree on San Luis Drive near the school around 12:30 a.m., the San Luis Obispo Police Department said in a post on X, formerly Twitter.

Police said the driver, an unnamed 26-year-old male, was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries.

The driver was not arrested at the scene because his injuries required medical care, police told The Tribune, but the agency said he is expected to be charged with a DUI.

Further details on the incident were not immediately available.
