Semi-truck blocks traffic on Highway 101 over the Cuesta Grade
Two lanes were closed on northbound Highway 101 on Monday after a semi-truck stopped while going up the Cuesta Grade.
The 18-wheeler began blocking the lanes at 1:56 p.m., according to Caltrans’ QuickMap. The truck was jackknifed and blocking the middle and right lanes of the highway between San Luis Obispo and Santa Margarita.
California Highway Patrol said the lanes will be closed for an “undetermined” amount of time. CHP said the agency was waiting for a tow truck to retrieve the semi-truck.
According to Caltrans Quickmap, traffic was backed from about half way up the Grade to San Luis Obispo.
Lanes reopened around 3:25 p.m.. Caltrans QuickMap showed the backup dispersing shortly after.
