A pedestrian was struck and killed by an Amtrak train in Goleta Friday afternoon, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.

Firefighters and other emergency personnel were dispatched shortly after 2 p.m. to the tracks a quarter mile west of Fairview Avenue.

The female victim was declared dead at the scene, fire Capt. Scott Safechuck told Noozhawk.

Her name was not available pending notification of relatives.

The train involved was a northbound Pacific Surfliner, which was stopped at the scene, according to Amtrak.

Additional details were not immediately available.
