Pedestrian hospitalized after being hit by vehicle on Highway 101 overpass in SLO County

A pedestrian was sent to the hospital Wednesday night after being struck by a vehicle in Arroyo Grande, according to the Arroyo Grande Police Department.

A vehicle struck the pedestrian on Grand Avenue at the Highway 101 overpass, police said in an Instagram post. A call for medical aid was made to the area around 6:25 p.m., according to emergency response app, PulsePoint.

The pedestrian suffered moderate to severe injuries and was transported to the hospital, according to the post.

As emergency responders worked at the scene, the Arroyo Grande Public Works Department closed all westbound lanes of traffic, according to the post.

“This is an active incident at this time and it’s unknown if drugs or alcohol were involved,” police said.

More details on the incident were not immediately available Thursday morning.

The Five Cities Fire Department and San Luis Ambulance also responded to the scene of the collision, and the Grover Beach Police Department was assisting with the investigation.
