What’s that smoke? Firefighters respond to vegetation fire in northern SLO County
Smoke wafting through North San Luis Obispo County is the result of a vegetation fire east of Templeton.
The blaze was first reported about 12:30 p.m. Monday and grew from an estimated 10 acres to 30 acres, according to emergency radio traffic.
The first was reported at 6150 Almond Road in the area east of Templeton, according to a social media post from SLO County Cal Fire.
Firefighters are tackling the blaze from air and by ground, according to radio traffic.
Forward progress on the blaze has stopped and the fire should be contained within the next two hours, according to an update from Cal Fire.
The Almond Fire is the second fire reported in San Luis Obispo County Monday.
A house was engulfed by flames early Monday morning near Lake Nacimiento in what was thought to be an accidental fire, Cal Fire said.
