A Paso Robles middle school was placed under a shelter-in-place order Thursday due to an altercation between a student and school staff member.

A student at George H. Flamson Middle School “became combative” with school staff Thursday morning, leading to the school issuing a shelter-in-place order, according to a news release from the Paso Robles Police Department.

The lockdown order was issued at 10:45 a.m. and was lifted at 11:30 a.m. after the student connected with a guardian and mental health services, the release said.

The situation was swiftly de-escalated by police officers and school staff, the release said.
