Traffic is congested on Shell Beach road for “a busted fire hydrant,” Pismo Beach Police Department said in a post to social media.

The department posted a photo showing a towering plume of water erupting from the hydrant.

The traffic congestion stretches from Placentia to Boeker.

The agency suggested drivers proceed with caution or take an alternate route.
