Seeing smoke in the hills near Arroyo Grande? Here’s what’s happening
Cal Fire will burn about 356 acres of vegetaion in in the hills east of Arroyo Grande, beginning today through the end of the week.
The controlled burn is part of the Long Canyon Vegetation Management plan to mitigate wildfire risk for the area along Huasna Valley Road and Mary Hall Road, according to a Cal Fire news release.
The burn is managed by Cal Fire and is being conducted in cooperation with the SLO County Fire Safe Council, SLO County Air Pollution Control District and local landowners, the release said.
The prescribed burn was scheduled to start around 9:45 a.m. and end by 6 p.m., Monday to Friday, the release said.
If conditions are not suitable for ideal smoke dispersal, the burn will be rescheduled, the release said.
