Firefighters save kittens from burning SLO County home
Cal Fire saved a litter of kittens as a home near Morro Bay burned to the ground in a fire Monday night, the agency confirmed to The Tribune.
The fire began around 6:20 p.m. at an 800-square-foot residence on the 2600 block of Canet Road, a side road parallel to Highway 1 just before the exit for South Bay Boulevard.
The Cambria Fire Department, Morro Bay Fire Department and San Luis Obispo Fire Department all assisted in the response. All occupants in the residence were able to escape safely, Cal Fire said, but a litter of kittens remained in the burning home.
Firefighters successfully rescued the kittens, the agency said, but the home was a “total loss.”
The fire took around four and a half hours to knock down and clean up, the agency said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
