Late-night power outage delays flights at SLO County Regional Airport

Power outage

A late-night power outage delayed flights to the San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport on Wednesday night.

According to PG&E’s outage map, 335 customers in the area of Buckley Road in San Luis Obispo were without power due to an electrical outage as of 11 p.m.

That outage area included the San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport.

Two United Airlines flights from Los Angeles and San Francisco — which were originally scheduled to arrive in San Luis Obispo on Wednesday night — were delayed until Thursday morning due to the outage, according to United’s online flight status tracker.

“Your flight has been delayed until 7 a.m. on Sept. 28 because of a power outage at San Luis Obispo County Regional Airport,” the airline said in an announcement for the Los Angeles to SLO flight. “We’re sorry for this disruption to your travel plans.”

The San Francisco to SLO flight was delayed until 7:46 a.m, according to the tracker.

As of 11 p.m., PG&E was assessing the cause of the outage. Power was expected to be restored by 12:45 a.m.
